Swift® verruca and wart treatment

Struggling with a stubborn verruca or wart? Swift® uses low-dose microwave energy, delivered through a small probe, to heat the affected skin. This is designed to help your immune system recognise and fight the virus (HPV) that causes warts. There's no cutting, no dressings, and most people carry on with their day straight afterwards.

Book an appointment or get in touch to find out whether Swift® could be right for you.

Warts and verrucas that won't go away

Most warts and verrucas are harmless, but they can be sore, embarrassing and very slow to clear. They often come back after over-the-counter treatments too. I see adults and children with:

  • Verrucas (plantar warts) on the soles of the feet, including clusters (mosaic verrucas)

  • Common warts on hands, fingers and knees

  • Warts around the nails

  • Warts and verrucas that haven't responded to creams, freezing sprays or other treatments

Not sure what you've got? I'll look at it first. If it isn't a wart or verruca, I'll tell you and point you to the right next step.

Why see a doctor?

I'm Dr Harriet Smith, MBChB MPH, a UK-qualified medical doctor with a background in public health. I founded this clinic to give people proper, evidence-based care for warts and verrucas, without the rush. When you book with me:

  • You get a proper medical assessment first. I check that it really is a wart or verruca and that Swift is suitable for you.

  • You get clear, honest advice. You'll know what to expect, how many treatments may be needed and what the other options are.

  • The whole family is welcome. I regularly treat children and nervous patients, and I'm happy to go at their pace.

  • You see me every time. I do your assessment, every treatment and your follow-up.

Fully insured.

How Swift® microwave treatment works

Swift uses a small handheld probe to deliver short, controlled bursts of microwave energy into the wart or verruca. This heats the affected tissue and is designed to prompt your immune system to recognise and tackle the virus (HPV) that causes warts.

  • No cutting, no dressings, no creams to apply at home

  • Each burst lasts only a few seconds

  • Most people go straight back to normal activities, including school and work

Most people need a course of treatments, usually spaced about a month apart. Results vary from person to person, and I can't guarantee resolution, but I'll always be honest with you about what's realistic.

What to expect at your appointment

  1. Consultation. I look at the wart or verruca, ask about your health and any previous treatments, and check that Swift is right for you.

  2. Treatment. A few short bursts per area. Most people feel a brief, sharp heat, like a quick sting, for a couple of seconds, and it fades quickly.

  3. Afterwards. The area may feel tender for a day or so. You can walk, shower and carry on as normal.

  4. Follow-up. Further treatments are usually booked about a month apart, and I'll see you for a post-treatment consultation at the end of your course.

Clear, simple pricing

  • Consultation: £45

  • Single Swift session: £150. If you go ahead, your £45 consultation fee is deducted, so you pay £105 more.

  • Recommended Swift course: £450. 3 Swift sessions plus your pre- and post-treatment consultations.

  • Refer a friend: get £50 off your next treatment when a friend you recommend books a Swift course. See terms

Prefer treatment at home?

I know travelling to appointments isn't always easy, especially with young children or busy work schedules. Where it's clinically appropriate, I can come to you and provide the same doctor-led Swift treatment in your own home. Get in touch to check availability and whether a home visit suits your treatment.

Home visits are free within a 15-minute drive of the clinic; further afield there’s a £10 visit fee. I also offer free home visits in Repton and Willington, Derbyshire.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost?

A consultation is £45. A single Swift session is £150, with the consultation fee deducted if you go ahead. My recommended course of 3 Swift sessions, including pre- and post-treatment consultations, is £450. See my prices page.

Does Swift treatment hurt?

Most people feel a short, intense heat or sting that lasts a couple of seconds per burst and then fades. Discomfort varies from person to person. I'll talk you through it and go at your pace. No anaesthetic or dressing is usually needed.

How many treatments will I need?

Most people need a course of treatments, which is why I recommend a course of 3. Some people need more and some fewer, depending on the size, number and how long the warts have been there. I'll give you an honest view at your consultation.

Is there an age limit? Can children be treated?

Yes, I treat children aged 10 and over, depending on how comfortable they are with the brief discomfort and where the verruca is. A parent or guardian must attend. See children's verrucas.

Do you do home visits, and where do you cover?

Yes, where it's clinically appropriate. Home visits are free within a 15-minute drive of the clinic; further afield there's a minimum £10 visit fee. Please call or email to check availability.

Is there anyone who can't have Swift?

Swift may not be suitable for everyone; for example, people with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, are pregnant, or have certain circulation or nerve problems in the feet. I'll check your medical history at your consultation.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No, you can book directly with me.
